LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

I hope you are all getting ready for the May Flowers that these wonderful April showers have promised to bring us.  May also brings Mother’s Day and when I think of Mother’s Day, I think of my Mother who didn’t really know that she was Cornish, she had heard it some where in the family but did not know what it was all about.  Her Mother knew very well what it meant as she was the first of her family born in this country and grew up hearing the stories of the “old home land.”  Her mother, my great grandmother never wanted to leave Cornwall and yearned to return but never got the chance because she died in Michigan in her early 50’s.

This Mother’s Day, take the time to remember and honor your mother,  grandmothers and great grandmothers and even if they were not Cornish, they were all incredible woman, they had to, to be mothers.  And, if you are a mother I wish you a Happy Mother's Day too.

ANNUAL MEETING   July 26, 2008 at Fort Borst Park in Centralia .

At our meeting in March in Puyallup there was a change to the By-Laws as follows:   Article V  Section 4 - The elected officers shall be elected by a simple majority of all voting members present at the annual meeting, There will be an election of officers every other year, with NO term limit, beginning in 2008.

As a result of this change I did not call for a Nominating Committee to be formed.  I am volunteering to continue as your President for the next two years. I will be asking the other Board Members to continue in their positions as well if they will.  I would like to extend the offer to others to come forward to serve on the Board and any volunteers for one of the four positions will be placed on the ballot for the vote to be held at the July Meeting.

The meeting schedule has again been discussed in terms of a standard weekend so that people can plan ahead to attend meetings. The following is what the consensus of the members preferred:

First Saturday in March,

Fourth Saturday in July,

Third Saturday in October
